Perriello campaign tithes volunteer hours
The Perriello campaign is in full swing with its volunteer tithing initiative, in which we are tithing 10% of our volunteer hours to community service projects around the district. Some recent projects include Habitat for Humanity in Charlottesville, the Edwards Adult Day Care Center in Martinsville, the Bibleway food bank in Danville, and Salvation Army soup kitchens.

Martinsville Meet-and-greet
About 60 people gathered at the Dutch Inn in Collinsville to hear about Tom's positive vision for Southside Virginia. The event was standing room only.

Uncle Billy's Day
The Perriello campaign braved the 102-degree heat to represent at Uncle Billy's Day festival in Altavista. Tom talked with voters about what they wanted their Congressman to fight for in Washington. Their #1 request: lower gas prices.

Fluvanna Democrats' Strawberry Social
Tom was a featured speaker along with Sen. Creigh Deeds at the Fluvanna Democrats' Strawberry Social. The strawberry shortcake was almost as good as Tom's speech.

5th District Nominating Convention
The Fifth District Democratic Nominating Convention brought together party leaders from all around the district who nominated Tom to be their party's candidate. Hundreds of supporters were inspired by Tom's pledge to work a double shift every day in Congress bringing jobs and economic revival back to the district.

Volunteer Tithing Initiative
The Perriello campaign introduced its volunteer tithing initiative, in which we will tithe 10% of our volunteer hours to community service projects around the district. During our launch weekend, we volunteered with Habitat for Humanity in Charlottesville, a food drive in Collinsville, and a food bank in Danville.

Halifax County Heritage Festival
Tom shook hands and met with voters in Halifax County at the annual Heritage Festival. The Perriello for Congress booth was well stocked with cookies, juice, and information about Tom's campaign for the common good in the Commonwealth.

Appomattox Democratic Pancake Breakfast
Tom spoke at the annual Democratic pancake breakfast in Appomattox, which gathered about 100 supporters from the county to hear Tom's positive message of standing up for their interests in Washington.








This month Tom visited all 22 counties and municipalities in the 5th District, talking with hundreds of concerned citizens about his plan for Economic REVIVAL. Tom listened to laid off furniture workers in Martinsville, small business owners in Campbell County, farmers in Brunswick and teachers in Albemarle. Everywhere he went he heard about the need for new leadership, and the desire for better paying jobs and a strong economy. Tom's economic REVIVAL plan was road-tested all month, and will help him respond to the needs of the people of Central and Southside Virginia.
