Infrastructure
Southside must be better connected with high-growth areas to the north and south. Tom will invest in Southside’s transportation infrastructure, broadband, and historic downtown redevelopment to attract new employers and spur growth.
- Connecting Southside to high-growth areas such as Northern Virginia, Greensboro, and the Research Triangle with highways and rails, as well as more regional programs such as commuter rail systems into Roanoke on existing lines.
- Matching state investments made by Gov. Mark Warner to expand broadband coverage to more rural areas.
- Modernize databases of job postings to include “tele-working,” including high-paying virtual jobs that can be performed by young professionals without leaving Southside.
- Ensuring modern sewage, electricity, and other services, including availability of natural gas lines.
How do we ensure that Southside and Central Virginia have the infrastructure to attract employers and provide a high quality of life to our people?
